BILLING: Bills for water/sewer service are processed quarterly. They become due 20 days after being sent. A late payment charge of 1% per month will be added to bills not paid within 20 days. This late payment charge will be applied to the total unpaid balance for utility service, including unpaid late payment charges. The late payment charge is applicable to all customers. Unless payment or satisfactory arrangement for payment is made, disconnect notices will be sent, pursuant to Ch. PSC 185, Wis. Adm. Code.
WATER METER: Should anything go wrong with your meter, do not tamper with it. Contact the Lakeland Sanitary District, and we will make arrangements to repair or replace it, free of cost to you, provided it is not due to negligence on your part. Should the meter become damaged due to negligence, the repair cost will be billed to you.
WATER/SEWER LATERALS: The property owner is responsible for maintenance and repair of the water lateral from the curb to the meter. Sewer laterals must be maintained and repaired by the property owner from the main to the building.
OWNER PAYMENT LIABILITY: The owner of any premises in which water is used, shall be charged for all water used, and shall be liable for the payment, regardless of who may occupy such premises or use such water. Upon request, water/sewer bills may be made out in the name of a tenant (a copy of the bill is sent to the owner as well), but in such case the owner of the premises is not relieved of any liablity for the payment of such water/sewer bills. All delinquent water/sewer bills will be placed on the tax roll at the year end. A 10% penalty charge will be added to all water/sewer bills placed on the tax roll.
